چکیده

The family of proteins named neurotrophins and also their receptors play an important role in differentiation and survival of specific populations of neurons, including cutaneous nerves. Recent advance in neuroscience has shown that in addition to their neurotrophic actions, neurotrophins, particularly, nerve growth factor, mediate various immune and inflammatory responses. These functions are fulfilled by alterations in cytokine and neuropeptide production, through effects on neurotrophin receptorbearing immune cells, notably, mast cells, lymphocytes, and macrophages. Within skin, different neurotrophins are synthesize and release primarily by keratinocytes, thus affecting cutaneous innervation, postinjury neural reconstruction, and nonneuronal cells, such as melanocytes, through a paracrine action. Involvement of neurotrophins and their receptors in the pathogenesis of certain skin diseases is also reviewed. Biomed Rev 1999; 10:15-23.

Expression pattern of neurotrophins and their receptors during neuronal differentiation of adipose-derived stem cells in simulated microgravity condition

Objective(s): Studies have confirmed that microgravity, as a mechanical factor, influences both differentiation and function of mesenchymal stem cells. Here we investigated the effects of simulated microgravity on neural differentiation of human adipose-derived stem cells (ADSCs). Materials and Methods:We have used a fast rotating clinostat (clinorotation) to simulate microgravity condition. R...

Effects of Eight Weeks of Resistance Exercises on Neurotrophins and Trk Receptors in Alzheimer Model Male Wistar Rats

Objectives: This study evaluates the effects of 8 weeks of resistance exercises on the expression of neurotrophins and Trk receptors in Alzheimer model male Wistar rats. Methods: For this purpose, 32 mature male Wistar rats with a mean weight of 230-280 g were chosen and divided into Alzheimer and Sham groups. The rats in the sham group received normal saline, while the ones in the Alzheimer g...

Killer Cell Immunoglobulin-Like Receptors (KIRs) Genotype and Haplotype Analysis in Iranians with Non-Melanoma Skin Cancers

Background: The innate immune system against malignancies is mainly orchestrated by natural killer cells, which carry out killing mechanisms by using their receptors, such as killer immunoglobulin-like receptors (KIRs). This study was designed to determine the diversity of KIR genes in non-melanoma skin cancers. Methods: A total of 160 subjects with skin cancer, including 60 cases of squamous c...

The role of Tachykinins in health and disease

Background & Aim: Tachykinin peptide family is one of the largest peptide families in animals that has been first discovered in the gastrointestinal tract about 70 years ago and isolated for the first time from the small intestine and brain. Up to now, more than 40 tachykinins have been extracted from invertebrates (insects, worms and fungi) and vertebrates (skin, gastro-intestinal duct, centra...

Deprenyl changes the expression of Trk-B and P75 NTR receptors in rat after sciatic nerve axotomy

During development many of neurons die by the phenomenon named programmed cell death or apoptosis and this reaction is regulated by neurotrophin (BDNF, NGF, NT3 and NT4/5). These neurotrophins bind to two different classes of transmembrane receptor proteins, the Trks and P75 NTR. Axotomy can induce apoptosis after birth and deprenyl is a an inhibitor of monoamineoxidase type-B and seems to act ...
